Reading is fundamental! Most intellectuals read. Try meeting people at bookclubs. The major booksellers
have them [Barnes & Noble, Borders, B. Dalton, Waldenbooks, etc.]. Check your local bookseller for more information. Hundreds of
colleges have book clubs for people of all ages. That's an avenue to explore as well.
You could also try going to poetry sessions or open mic gatherings. I've met some AMAZING and intelligent people at those types of venues. People with whom I've made great connections. To find what is unique and outstanding, you'll have to go to places that are unusual and overlooked!
