Ideally, the way to find out is to come right out and ask and be honest with the individual. You want an honest response so
you have to be honest in your approach. You can't logically expect an honest response while you are trying to play this
sneaky game! Unfortunately, there is no guaranteed test to find out who will "mess around" [with someone of the same gender].
This person can get mad and cut you off [or cut you] or it could lead to something neither of
you were expecting. It depends on whether or not you think it's worth the risk of opening yourself up that way. You can either
gain a partner or lose a friend. It's risky business because this subject is still so taboo in many circles. There isn't any
guaranteed way around that!
